As Londoners tentatively readjust to eating out again after lockdown, City Am recommends some choice spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner – in and around Mayfair.
If you’re eating out in Mayfair, look no further than Sketch, the fine food and drinks emporium of bars and restaurants, which includes the Michelin-starred Lecture Room & Library.
For breakfast head to the Parlour, reputed to serve the best eggs in London. You can have them cooked a variety of ways – free range tempura on sourdough toast with asparagus, avocado and ‘sketchup’ or poached Tijuana style with rancheros sauce, baked beans, guacamole, grated cheese and a toasted tortilla, for example. Wash them down with a Yoga Glow – a blend of coffee, almond milk, dates and pink Himalayan salt. Book online but beware, the Sketch website isn’t easy to navigate.
For lunch check out Le Comptoir Robuchon on Clarges Street. Having opened just before lockdown, this new venture by the highly-rated French chef Joel Robuchon offers a more casual take on the food which established his reputation.
There’s a mix of French classics and more inventive specials. Sample lunch dishes include quail with foie gras and herb salad or flat iron beef with ginger, white asparagus and teriyaki sauce. Pricey, but does the job if you’re out to impress a client post-lockdown. Read more or book on the restaurant’s website.
For dinner, Scott’s on Mount Street is a Mayfair institution, famed for its lobster, steak and game of the season – not to mention its cocktails and atmosphere of urbane sophistication. Oysters, served at the elegant oyster and Champagne bar, are a house speciality. Check out the menu and book here.
