There’s no denying there has been a renewed interest in crafting in recent years, whether as a hobby or profession, and now a new series of workshops are being launched to coincide with the opening of a new exhibition which celebrates the work of British craft artists.
The New Craftsmen, a homewares and concept store in Mayfair, is hosting a series of summer maker workshops in their studio space at 34 North Row.
The workshops will run until 26 August 2017, and each will take place between 2pm – 4pm, following by tea and cake with the maker who heads the workshop.
The next workshop will be held on Saturday 8 July. Hosted by textile artist Louisa Loakes, it will focus on block-printing. Other workshops focus on everything from mending and darning, to tile making or natural fabric dying.
These workshops are ideal for anyone who wants to embrace the work of craft artists, while learning some interesting new skills.
The New Craftsmen is arranging the workshops to mark the launch of Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, an exhibition which is being described as ‘a joyful summer celebration of new talents and new pieces.’
The exhibition showcases the incredible craft skills of over 25 different makers, with a varied selection of contemporary pieces on display.
The Animal, Vegetable, Mineral exhibition is being held at 34 North Row, Mayfair, and runs until Saturday 9 September.
