Kate and Rachel from the Best Gapp team took part in the Moonwalk 2013

Were you out late in central London on Saturday 11th May? Did you happen to see several thousand women (and a few men) walking purposefully through the streets in various costumes, with a lot of cleavage on display? You saw the London 2013 Moonwalkers in action.

Massive congratulations to Kate McEvoy  and Rachel Abrahams from Best Gapp who took part in the Moonwalk on Saturday night. Rachel works in the front office whilst Kate is Courtney Manton’s PA.

Moonwalk

For those who don’t know, the Moonwalk is a walking marathon – that’s 26.2 miles, walked through London in the middle of the night, in aid of breast cancer charities.  The girls, accompanied by their valiant team of friends 'Marvellous M’s Moonwalkers'  started the walk alongside 16,000 other participants at around midnight from Battersea power station.

To highlight the cause, participants are encouraged to wear their bras on the outside of their clothes. In fact many teams decorate the bras and dress up too. Kate and Rachel went for a sailor theme and very glamorous sailors they made indeed as you can see from the pictures.

The team were walking particularly for Kate’s sister, who was also Rachel’s best friend, Emma Fisher. All the money raised by moonwalkers is shared across several different breast cancer charities.

Rachel said ‘It was a very cold night for walking round not wearing very much but it was worth it and I would do it again despite very sore toes! ’ and Kate agreed “Emma would have been proud of us all.”

Well done Kate and Rachel. That’s some very impressive walking, and a very worthy cause. You can still sponsor the team and help them raise money on their page
