Following a public consultation last year, the changes are set to be introduced on 6th April 2018. The digital services will make it easier for property buyers and sellers when embarking on the conveyancing or registration process.
Once the changes are implemented, customers will be able to obtain digital conveyancing documents and e-signatures alongside other digital services. The Land Registry’s aim is to simplify and streamline the use of its services, while making them faster and cheaper.
Graham Farrant, the Chief Executive and Chief Land Registrar, said: “Our customers are central to everything we do and we want to make dealing with us quicker and simpler by providing more services through digital technology.”
Farrant continued: “These changes are an important enabler for our digital transformation and I want to thank our customers for their positive responses to the consultation.”
The planned changes should also improve the service customers receive throughout the conveyancing and registration process.
The changes about to be introduced form a part of the Land Registry’s wider modernisation aims.
