Art In Mayfair Opens The Door To A World Of Art And Fashion

Art in Mayfair – the cultural collaboration between the Royal Academy of Arts and the district’s fashion retailers – will take place from 12 June to 9 July. Now in its sixth year, this immersive arts showcase coincides with the Academy’s 255th Summer Exhibition.

Art in Mayfair opens the door to a world of art and fashion

Many of Mayfair’s iconic brands, including the tailors of Savile Row, are working with local galleries to host pop-up shows, talks and masterclasses, transforming Mayfair into a live exhibition which celebrates its rich art heritage.

Highlights include Art in Mayfair flags along the area’s premier shopping streets, created by renowned contemporary artist Bob and Roberta Smith RA – best known for the painting ‘Make Art Not War’. The flags, will include a puzzling jumble of letters, will be a “genuinely playful experience in amongst all of the hullabaloo of central London,” according to the artist.

Katie Thomas, associate director, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the collaborative working relationship between art and fashion for our sixth year, working once again with the Royal Academy of Arts – an incredible institution located right on our doorstep.

“As always, our hope for Art in Mayfair is to open a door into the worlds of art and fashion, which can easily feel inaccessible or alienating at times. The two are without doubt having a real moment and we are excited to see what our luxury houses have in store this year for Art in Mayfair.”

You can experience Art in Mayfair on Bond Street, Savile Row, Mount Street, Duke Street and North and South Audley Street.
